Rothco’s Annual Company Picnic Is a Huge Success
This year ROTHCO’s company picnic was held at Sunken Meadow Park. We had the largest turnout ever! Employees and their families in attendance numbered 240 and everyone had a great time. The weather turned out to be perfect for a day at the beach. We had lots of activities for the kids including making seashell picture frames, candy necklaces and 3-D fish bowls. Each child received a large pail & shovel filled with toys they could play with on the beach. There was a sand castle building contest for all the kids with some very imaginative creations. There was also a large cotton candy machine, which was a nice treat for both kids and adults. A crayon moonbounce playground entertained the kids for a great part of the day.
The adults participated in beach volleyball and soccer. A Chinese Auction was held for all. Each employee and their family members were given raffle tickets to with a total of 50 different prizes available. There was one “employee only” basket which could only be won by a ROTHCO employee – every employee’s name was put into a basket and Howard picked the winner at the end of the Chinese Auction. This was a relaxation basket which included wine, candles, bubble bath, chocolates and a certificate for “one paid vacation day off” for the winner. The winner was Victor Cuartas. Victor is a packer in our warehouse who has been working at ROTHCO for 10 years, CONGRATULATIONS VICTOR, enjoy your relaxing day off! ROTHCO’s picnic is coordinated by Cathy Sordyl, and a staff of volunteers. We don’t know how she does it, but each year Cathy puts together a better picnic than the year before! We are already looking forward to next year!
Employee gatherings including picnics, holiday parties or even dinner out with your staff are excellent and effective morale boosters which can help increase employee productivity and retention and decrease employee turnover. For more ideas on these and other Human Resources issues.
